Breathable Walls

EarthBlock walls are breathable and ensure improved indoor air quality, superior longevity, better thermal storage qualities, higher R values, improved fire safety, less moisture buildup and superior resistance to mold and mildew. Cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.

Evaporative Cooling

EarthBlock functions according to a basic principle called ‘evaporative cooling’ where the evaporation of water (humidity) from a surface removes heat, creating a cooling effect. Evaporative cooling improves indoor air temperature and human comfort levels by providing a natural passive humidifier and dehumidifier. Helping you be healthier and feeling better all year-round.

EarthBlock is stronger than CMUs or polystyrene. Their superior structural strength requires less steel and cement than typical buildings yet they remain strong enough to withstand earthquakes and even Category 4-5 hurricanes (if properly designed and built).

EarthBlock is composed of dry inorganic subsoil, non-expansive clay, aggregates, and a natural stabilizer, compressed under high pressure to form extremely strong, structural, and durable building blocks.

Polystyrene

The production of Styrofoam is energy intensive, creating large amounts of greenhouse gasses. Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) or Styrofoam, is a petroleum-based non-biodegradable foam, and is a known human carcinogen. Polystyrene has serious impacts upon human health, wildlife, aquatic environment, and the economy. Polystyrene has almost zero structural value, it requires lots of cement and steel to hold it up.

Cement

The production of cement is energy intensive. It is one of the highest industrial polluters on the planet. It is responsible for 8% of annual Co2 emissions. Just 20 sacks/bags of cement have a carbon dioxide footprint that can be expressed as a carbon cube, measuring 8.2 meters long, 8.2 meters, wide and 8.2 meters tall. (27 ft long x 27 ft wide x 27 ft tall).
